According to his mother, Cathy, was in late June in 2005 when his son developed a cough, which usually occurs during sleep, even during the day. It is only a short dry cough symptom. His pediatrician thought it was just allergies, however, when his son was tested, the result showed that his son had no allergy. According to her, was her son's asthma that relates to GERD.

Studies show GERD is also normal for babies and children as in adults, but this fact is often overlooked. The disease symptoms appear in the continuous cough and difficulty breathing.

Children are vulnerable to GERD because of their immature digestive system. The truth is that most babies grow out of GERD, once they reach the age of one year of age.

Medical specialists also noted that the symptoms of children can come in difficulty swallowing food, or lack of growth. Doctors recommend that in a situation like this is better to decrease the amount of acid in the stomach of children before it could lead to acid reflux, since this disease is very curable in children.

However, the doctor suggested some ways to avoid acid reflux in children, an example of these is burping the child a few times during feeding, or letting the infant stay in a upright position for 30 minutes after feeding.

Although, for a child three years old and older, doctors suggested to keep them out includes soft drink caffeine like sodas, soft drinks, spicy foods like peppermint, acidic foods like citrus fruits, chocolate too, and the fried and fatty foods. Ideally, the establishment of a habit of eating healthy diet can actually reduce acid reflux in children.

It is also suggested children to eat smaller meals before bedtime, if possible, not allow them to eat two or three hours before bedtime, too, raising the head of the bed at least 30 degrees.

Other treatments include the use of H2 blockers, which is available at any drug store. Prevacid, plump inhibitors of protons, can also be used in treating acid flux for children.

However, if these treatments fail to stop the symptoms, The other treatment method needs to be done. It is very atypical, but doctors recommended surgery, this is by far the best treatment for relentless symptoms now no longer against other treatments.

Esophageal reflux surgery for children is designed for children who have been successful treatments doctors, and continuous surgery is essential as the child grows.

Now, if you get confused whether when is the time to consult a pediatrician regarding acid reflux. The answer is to watch, observe the amounts of vomiting of the child, if it comes in green or yellow or appears to be like blood or coffee grounds, There is difficulty breathing after vomiting, and no pain on swallowing, immediately consult a doctor before it worsens the symptoms.
